This blog started as a hobby and turned into a business. As any business, I have expenses including website hosting, an email subscription service, and taxes. One of the ways I cover those expenses is by participating in various affiliate programs.
When you click on a link from this website that leads to an affiliate partner and buy something, I get some money. It doesn’t increase the price of anything to you.
For example, if you want to buy the classic Rider-Waite Tarot Deck from U.S. Games, which Amazon sells for $16ish, affiliates get a whopping $0.48 or so. (Yes, that link is an affiliate link. I will always label affiliate links as such).
That doesn’t seem like much, but it all adds up. If you’re curious about how I spend the money, here are the expenses I have in running this website:
- $30.00/year – LearnTarotWithMe.com domain name and SSL security certificate
- $45.00/month – Website hosting
- $50.00/month – ConvertKit email service to send newsletter emails
- $5.00/month – AWS S3 storage fees for the free downloadable tarot cards & cheat sheet
- $5.00/month – Google Apps for Work for gmail, Google docs, and storage
- $30.00/month – Adobe Creative services, which I use for Photoshop mostly
I’ll try to keep this updated, but these are current as of May 2017.
My Affiliate Recommendation Policy
I will recommend a product using an affiliate link if:
- It’s something I use and love, or
- It’s something I haven’t used yet, but I want to AND it’s been highly recommended to me.
Since I’m such a tarot newbie and this website is all about my journey to learn how to read the cards, there are a lot of tarot books and resources out there I haven’t used yet. I’ll only link to them if they have been recommended to me highly by someone I trust.
The Comment Policy
Treat others how you’d like to be treated, and remember to reserve judgment and assume that everyone is trying their best. In other words, be kind, helpful, and not overly self-promotional. If, for any reason, I believe that a comment does not add to the conversation, I may remove it at any time at my sole discretion.
I only collect info from you that you voluntarily provide (through comments, form submissions, shop purchases, etc.) – and I treat that info like gold. Your information will never be sold, and I only share it with trusted & secure third parties in the order of doing business (i.e. with ConvertKit to send you an email, or with Stripe to process your credit card securely, as just two examples).
